Chez Simon in the heart of Bordeaux winelands is 5okm from the Bordeaux airport of Merignac. You can take the D137 route, which is 10 minutes faster and not scenic, or you can set your GPS to route via Bourg sur Gironde and enjoy a scenic river-side drive, which we recommend for daylight arrival. Both routes are shown below.

If you are arriving anytime other than on a Sunday or after 6:00pm, we suggest you first stop at LeClerc supermarket and stock up on a few essentials for your self-catering. See map below for location of LeClerc supermarket.

There is a small general dealer on Blaye main street, opposite the Citadel that is open even on Sundays and sells all essentials.

To cycle the surrounding vineyards and villages, follow the blue routes on the map. Click the cycles for information.

There is a bicycle rental shop 800 meters from Chez Simon. Follow the D669 – it will be on your RHS. See map below.

Wednesdays and Saturdays are market day in the town of Blaye – a great time to stock up on farm-fresh produce and sea food as well as just about everything else you can think of.

However we suggest you do your shopping for basics as soon as you arrive at LeClerc – click the icons on the map for information.

From as early as 7:00am you can take a stroll downtown to one of three Boulangerie for fresh baked  baguettes, croisanttes and pain au chocolat.

When you enter the town of Blaye, the map below shows the exact location of Chez Simon.

Rue St Simon is a one-way street from the direction of the Citadel. If you do not find convenient parking in front of 21 Rue St Simon, unload your luggage into the entrance passage and then find safe, off-road parking on Cours du General de Gaulle. Please do not carry luggage through the PMU or other shops when you arrive or depart.
